FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Club Volleyball:

Club volleyball is the organized formation of non-scholastic volleyball teams for the purposes of practice and competition. Club volleyball programs associate with one or more governing organizations (USA Volleyball, AAU, JVA, Etc) in order to sanction their competitions.

Why REIGN VBC:

Reign VBC was created for school-aged children starting in 4th grade in the Waushara County area who want to practice, play, and advance their volleyball skills without having to travel an hour away to do so.  We are supported by local donations to try to make it affordable for more families.

What are the costs:

All participants must be registered members of USA volleyball in order to participate.  This costs $10.00 for a trial membership and an additional $40.00 when accepted onto a team.  REIGN VBC is anticipating costs to be between $200-$350 per participant depending on age bracket.  These fees cover coaching, tournaments, jerseys, insurance, equipment, and more.  Families will also need to provide transportation to tournaments and basic volleyball gear (shorts, shoes, socks, knee-pads).

Please compare us to other clubs.  Thanks to our generous donors we keep our costs extremely low - perhaps the lowest in the State.

Why does it cost so much more than basketball:

We are the most reasonably price club volleyball team available.  Basketball in our area is currently subsidized by the Backboard club and two major fundraisers (Golf Outing and hosting local tournaments).  Until volleyball gets a group of parents to form a booster club like Football and Basketball it will be more expensive.  If costs are the only concern about joining the team please discuss options with the Director.  Our goal is to find a way to get every player that wants to participate involved.

What are the time commitments:

It will be up to the coaches to set practice dates and times.  We are trying hard to hold practices only once a week (on Sundays) to allow players to also participate in basketball if they wish.  We are a small community and need young ladies interested in multiple sports to be able to field good teams each year.  Tournaments will vary by age bracket and are held on weekends in January - March. Our goal is to participate in 2-5 tournaments each season; fewer for younger ages, more for older groups.

Tryouts dates depend on age bracket as well, with those <15 starting in October and 15+ starting in November.

What are tryouts:

Each club team holds tryouts to gauge the skills and interest of potential players.  Participants must get a trial membership with USA volleyball ($10) to tryout.  This membership is good for tryouts with multiple clubs.  In 2017 REIGN tryouts will cost $20.00.  Players accepting an offer from REIGN VBC will have the tryout fee applied to their club dues.

What do we need to bring to Tryouts:

Five things:

1)  $20.00 check payable to REIGN VBC

2)  USA Volleyball membership card

3)  Player Information form

4)  Player Medical Form

5)  Player Concussion acknowledgement

Each of these forms can be found on this website or on Badger Region Website.

What if I get an offer to play for REIGN VBC:

You will be notified via phone call, email, text or written form that we would love for you to be apart of our club.  Each player has a designated amount of time to respond (typically 2-4 days).  The first step is to verbally tell the director or coach you are or you are not accepting the offer.  Please let us know if you are considering or have accepted an offer from another club.  Then you need to log into USA volleyball and upgrade your membership and select REIGN VBC as your club.  Finally, you need to make payment arrangements for the club dues.

How are teams formed:

We will try to be as inclusive as possible.  Our goal is to have 9-12 players on 3-6 teams (12U, 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U).  To make that happen we need player interest, coaches, and court space.  We will work hard to accomplish that. If we have too many at an age group we would love to form two teams (assigned by talent).  Players can also play up an age (older) bracket - if desired/needed.

Fundraisers:

Players will have the opportunity to sell Kwik Trip Car Wash cards.  This raises funds for the club to keep overall costs down and a portion of the profits go back to the player selling the cards to further reduce their costs.

How do I donate to REIGN VBC

REIGN VBC is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit organization.  Donations may be tax deductible.  Checks to REIGN VBC are accepted and a reciept will be provided.  Funds, old equipment (volleyballs), or sponsorships are welcomed.  Our goal is the be the most affordable team around that gives kids the opportunity to play while teaching them teamwork and improving their overall game.
